Reasonable Suspicion Alcohol/Drug Test may be conducted when a supervisor or another employee has directly observed specific discernible signs of an employee being unfit for duty. Examples may be:

  • erratic or abnormal behavior
  • disorientation
  • confusion
  • inability to complete routine tasks
  • or have a documented pattern of unsafe work behavior. 

This is also known as For Cause Testing. When an employee is sent to a testing facility for a Reasonable Suspicion test, It is IMPERATIVE the employee be taken to the testing facility by a supervisor. If the employee were to have an accident on the way to the testing facility the company may be liable.
